😎 One of the Largest Ski Areas in Japan 😎
Shiga Kogen is famous of its over 400 hectares field and this is one of the largest ski areas in Japan. It’s also known for being one of the sites for Nagano Olympic games in 1998.
There are 18 ski resorts connected by lifts and gondolas or shuttle buses. The 46 lifts and gondolas cover this huge snow area, and you can take all of them with one lift pass.
As it is vast site, there are various type of slopes, easy or steep, wide or narrow, groomed or not, bumpy or forest, and more. Beginners to experts, everyone will find slopes fit for their skills and preferences. You can also try Olympic courses to challenge your riding skills!
The 18 ski resorts are divided into 5 areas.
Each area provides limited area lift pass if you want to focus on practice in one area. If you are ready for the adventure of riding on every ski resort, we recommend you to get a whole mountain lift pass.

🏔️ The Highest Altitude 🏔️
The highest altitude in Shiga Kogen ski resorts is at 2,307m of Mt. Yokoteyama summit. Thanks to this high altitude, we can enjoy long winter season! The earliest start of snow season could be the end of November and the season continues to the mid-May especially at Yokoteyama/Shibutoge ski resort which provide the highest altitude slope in Japan.

Most of hotels in Shiga Kogen are located very close to ski resorts so you can ski-in ski-out!
Taking an express bus or driving a car to come to Shiga Kogen, you may feel it bit annoying. But once you reach here, you would need just cross a street to get a lift! This is also advantage of Shiga Kogen that all parking is free of charge!

Because Shiga Kogen is a part of Joshin’etsu Kogen National Park, you will encounter the wonderful primitive nature. Skiing surrounded by panoramic scenery will be an amazing experience.
