The best place to go during the hot and humid summer months is the summit of Yokoteyama. Climbing to an elevation of 2300 meters, it is about 10 degrees cooler than the towns below.
Yokoteyama summit can be reached by either the Shibutoge Romance Lift from the Shibutoge side or the Sky Lator and Sky Lift from the Yokoteyama side. There are parking lots on both sides. Those who wish to enjoy hiking can also walk up the mountain without taking the lift. Walking up to the summit from either side will take from about 30 minutes to an hour.
