Shiga Kogen is a cycling spot where a hill climb race to the highest point of the national route is held. This ride is hard but also offers beautiful scenery.
*There are no bicycle lanes. Please ride with caution and watch out for cars.
*There is no convenience shop nor vending machine in Shiga Kogen Mountain Resort, so we recommend preparing everything before you come to Shiga Kogen area.
The highest point of the national route at 2171m
Ride along the Route 292 to reach the highest elevation point of 2172 meters! It’s not an easy route, but it must feel good when you finish the climb.
There is a small parking lot and a monument marking the highest point of the national road in Japan.
Route from bottom of Shiga Kogen to Shibutoge is about 30km distance and 1600m of elevation gain.
